We recently received a MOBI TykeLight for review. For those who have kids you know how helpful a night light can be to assuage night time fears. But this is no ordinary night light. We put it to the test by giving it to our President, Mike Farrell, who gave it to his 7 year old son and 8 year old daughter. Each of them tried it one night. What follows is a brief interview of their thoughts about the MOBI TykeLight and then an interview with MOBI's President, David Naghi.Interview with Luke, 6 years old Dad: Luke, what did you think of the TykeLight? Did you use it last night? Luke: It was good. Dad: What made it so good Luke? Luke: Well I like that it turns off automatically after I fell asleep. Dad: Anything else? Luke: I like that you don't need any batteries. You can just plug it in and it recharges. Dad: That's right Luke and that will make mommy very happy. Luke: Can I keep it? Dad: Yep, but I want to let Meg use it to see what she thinks of it, okay? Luke: Yes!!! Interview with Meg, 8 years old. Dad: Meg, what did you think of the TykeLight? Meg: I really liked the color of it. It's a pretty green color and I like that I can hold it close to me. Dad: Did it make you feel safer? Meg: Yes, because at night when I get up I can see. Dad: Anything else? Meg: It's kind of a weird shape but I still like it. I though that it had wore out overnight but it turned off by itself. That made me feel safe too. Dad: Yes, that is a really cool feature. Mom and Dad don't have to worry about you leaving it on too long and we also like that you can carry it with you. Meg: Dad, does it come in other colors cause I would like a blue one? Dad: I looked on the TykeLight.com website and it comes in six colors and blue is one of the colors. Meg: Cool, could you get me one too Dad so me and Luke can have our own? Dad: We'll see Meg.
...and now an interview with David Naghi, President of MOBI.
Fatherville.com: What was the genesis/inspiration for the TykeLight? David Naghi: A nightlight that children can bond with can be more useful than just a nightlight and actually makes children feel more comfortable to see in their room. Not to mention, they can pick the TykeLight up like a toy, hold, touch and carry it safely -- anywhere, anytime. Fatherville.com: Were you ever dissuaded to pursue the product? If so, why? David Naghi: Well, with many companies there are always challenges when you are pursuing the creation of a new product, for example, high development and production costs, but we overcame those obstacles and we are very proud of the final product and its packaging. Fatherville.com: How did you decide on the shape and colors of the TykeLight? David Naghi: MOBI uses a talented, young designer to create several designs which we ultimately selected from after doing some informal market research. Fatherville.com: How long was it from concept to actual product delivery? David Naghi: Six months Fatherville.com: There are lots of night lights on the market--why do you think your product is different? David Naghi: MOBI's TykeLight can be a nightlight, play light; it's portable, safe to fall sleep with and easy on the environment using new technology (Rechargeable, LED, no heat, Auto-Off, Timer-off). It also helps children fall sleep by using the auto dimmer function. Fatherville.com: How did you test the product for safety? David Naghi: MOBI uses internal tests, UL approved charger and components, and the TykeLight was tested by independent labs required by its largest retail/mass market customers. Fatherville.com: Tell us about one or two of the other products that you offer that you think parents would find especially useful. David Naghi: The MobiCam Ultra is a wonderful product. It helps parents keep eyes and ears on their children. See & hear your baby until they grow and move out of the house!..and it's not just for babies. Fatherville.com: Anything else you want us to know about your products? David Naghi: Visit www.getmobi.com to see all the latest products from the maker of TykeLight and MobiCam Ultra.
